Como utilizar da melhor forma essas expressões: go, go to, go to the, go to a.
A gramática da Língua Inglesa é bastante ampla pporém o uso do "go, go to, go to the, go to a" é bem amplo e não há uma regra única para este uso.
Há na verdade o uso "aderido à fala" de acordo com países e regiões.

No substantivo hospital de acordo com o Oxford Dictionary:

(North American English) He had to go to the hospital for treatment. (com artigo)
I'm going to the hospital to visit my brother. (se for só visitar alguém aí precisa do artigo)
